What financial info should I look at every month?

I like to look forward at projections of future performance and back at the P and L to see past performance. I also look at both the cash position and the profitability of a business. I use a cash projection template that I developed over time, a chart version of a summary of the P and L and a Budget to Actuals report. Depending on the specific business there may be other custom reports to drill down into details. Resist getting pulled into the weeds until you have comfort with the big picture. When you start to have confidence about the financial picture as a whole, you will have tons of ideas of where to drill down to get more detailed answers.
